MEET YOUR C.PEDS

Gravity Jones is an orthotic lab and ski shop located in Vail, Colorado. It was founded by Adam Greenier in 1998. Adam later partnered with Erik Hartman, who complimented Gravity Jones’ dedication to customer service and care in craftmanship. Our experience in foot care began with the fitting and aligning of alpine ski boots. Due to the inherent discomfort and fit difficulties of ski boots, we sought further education in foot anatomy, pathology, and biomechanics. This education and subsequent certifications led to the research and development of superior foot care devices.

Adam Greenier, Owner & C.Ped

Adam grew up in northern Maine and was always plagued with severe foot problems. Throughout his tenure as a ski instructor and coach, he realized that many of his peers and clients were experiencing pain as well. In 2001, Adam attended Northwestern University to study pedorthics. He completed his laboratory work at Oklahoma State University and was board certified in November 2001. His ground-breaking approach and research has resulted in the apprenticeship of nine interns and lectures at various universities and athletic organizations. His orthotics are now being used on almost every continent, in such extreme locations as Patagonia and New Zealand.

Erik Hartman, Owner & C.Ped

Erik has always had a high aptitude for mechanics and a penchant for helping people with their problems. As a ski instructor, he became aware of the interaction between sports equipment and human physiology. After moving to Vail in 2002, he began teaching for the Vail Ski School and working at Gravity Jones. Under the tutelage of Adam Greenier, he developed the skills needed to evaluate foot problems and fabricate the required appliances. He completed his pedorthic education at the University of Oklahoma at Okmulgee and was board certified in 2005. As a perfectionist, he continues to dedicate his life to improving patient mobility, comfort and performance through orthotic fabrication and footwear modification.

FABRICATION PROCESS

Gravity Jones Orthotic Fabrication prides itself in the fabrication of premier foot appliances ranging from prescription medical orthotics to recreational sport footbeds. We work closely with a wide variety of orthopaedic surgeons, chiropractors, physical therapists, and professional athletes. Our patients’ health and satisfaction is our highest priority.

To begin working with Gravity Jones, simply call or email us and either Adam or Erik will personally get you started. After we have gotten to know each other and have established your intended market, we will send you a samples, a personalized order form and brochures with a counter display.

After you receive our Start-Up kit, it’s as simple as sending us patients’ casts, prescriptions, order forms and any other applicable information. We will fabricate the orthotics to the patients’ specifications and ship them approximately one week after receiving the casts. You will be billed at the wholesale price, and charge your patients at the retail price, or whatever price you see fit.

Our appliances are built from either a plaster cast or foam impression in an un-weighted or semi-weighted position. For gait alignment purposes the orthotics can be posted intrinsically or extrinsically. Modifications can be incorporated to treat medical needs.

SUPERIOR PRODUCTS

ACCOMMODATIVE APPLIANCES:

Economy Orthotic (accommodative, flexible)

Our lowest priced orthotic, this appliance is best suited for cost sensitive clients with no medical needs. Constructed from medium durometer EVA, its primary function is to improve shoe fit and performance through custom shape of the plantar aspect of the foot. These devices are offered in full-length only and therefore are best suited for athletic footwear applications.

Performance Orthotic (accommodative, semi-rigid)

Our intermediate product preferred by chiropractors for its price point, this orthotic device provides accommodative support and control. This device will improve foot support and by default, gait using a semi rigid arch support. It does not, however, correct alignment, i.e. pronation/supination or address medical needs. This orthotic is best suited for athletes with decent alignment, without medical needs, seeking a higher level of support and comfort. Although it appears identical to our prescription medical orthotic, it is vastly different and not suited for a patient that requires correction or treatment. It is constructed with a one or two millimeter polypropylene shell. It has a light durometer top cover and firm durometer heel post with no toe fill or bottom cover.

CORRECTIVE APPLIANCES:

Prescription Medical Orthotic (corrective, functional)

This is our premium medical appliance. Pronation and supination are addressed as standard procedure during fabrication. The orthotic can be fabricated as a treatment device for foot and lower leg diseases and degeneration. It also serves as a recovery appliance after major injury or surgery. Under the direction of a physician, this orthotic can be designed as a conservative treatment for other common problems, such as: Plantar Fasciitis, Achilles Tendonitis, Morton’s Neuroma, Diabetes, Bunions and Leg Length Discrepancy. The Prescription Medical Orthotic is constructed on a patient by patient basis using the very best materials available. This motion controlling appliance is typically constructed using a semi-ridged to ridged polypropelyne or copolymer shell with an EVA heel post and top cover, poron toe fill and diamond tread toe and heel bottom cover. Our diabetic specific prescription orthotic is full-length soft EVA with a plastazote top cover.

FOOTWEAR:

Orthotic Sandals (ACCOMMODATIVE or corrective)

A sandal can be constructed from an accommodative cast for custom shape and comfort. It can also be fabricated from a corrective cast as a supplement to the patient’s prescription orthotic, allowing patients alternative footwear options and increasing patient compliance. It has proved successful in warm weather and aquatic situations. We offer a variety of custom designs, or the prescription can be added to the patient’s favorite sandal.
